Course Details

(Must Be 18 Years Old)

1. Must be enrolled and successfully pass an Entry Level Driver Training Program at a minimum of 80% competencies on tests, assignments, and course work.

2. Must be able to successfully demonstrate the skills involved in maneuvering a Tractor and Trailer as deemed by the instructor.

3. Must be able to successfully pass the DMV Written Exam scheduled by the student.

4. Must be able to successfully pass the DMV Road Test as deemed by the DOT Examiner.

Requirements

1. Must have a Commercial Driver’s License Permit to Drive

2. Must have on file, Department of Motor Vehicles Recent Physical – last year.

3. Must have on file, Driving Record from DMV within last month

CDL COURSE INSTRUCTIONS

Funding Eligibility:

To be eligible for funding through Career Source, you'll need to:

  1. Pass the CDL Learner's Permit exam.
  2. Obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  3. Provide a Driving History Report.

Once these requirements are met, you can enroll in the course.

Course Enrollment:

  1. Upon enrollment, you'll receive access to the online curriculum provided by JJ Keller.
  2. Submit your CDL Learner's Permit, DOT Medical Card, and Driving History Report to our Clewiston Adult School Office.
  3. Complete the JJ Keller online curriculum, achieving a minimum score of 80%.

Post-Course Steps:

  1. Clewiston Adult School will send a letter to Career Source confirming you've met the prerequisites.
  2. You'll then be scheduled for the practical Over-the-Road and Driving Components with an instructor. A minimum of 50 hours of truck driving experience is required.

Final Steps:

  • Once you've mastered the driving and skills components, we will schedule your driving test in Fort Myers.
