If your literacy level is too low, all parts of the test will be more difficult. There are pre-tests that you can take to asset your level of readiness. The TABE test is one of them.

How Long Does It Take to Get Your GED?

You might be able to earn your GED in less than three months. How long it takes to get your GED depends on what skills you already have. It also depends on the number of hours you study each week.

What Is the GED?

“GED” stands for general educational development. “GED” also refers to the certificate that you earn by passing certain tests. Each state oversees testing in that state and determines the test sites. How many challenges could one Chevy provide for Clewiston Diesel School?

Everton Griffiths is a student at Hendry County Workforce’s Diesel Tech program . He brought in a completely dead truck with many mechanical issues so that the class would have a challenge. And the challenge was epic. They took nearly every part of this 1997 Chevy apart and put it back together. Some of the parts were even rusted together. Students repaired the fuel system & tank, flywheel, starter, brake system, u-joint, spark plugs, water pump, and alternator under the supervision and insightful commentary of master mechanic and instructor Albert Williams.

There were many profound aha moments of hands-on learning as this project came roaring back to life. And the jubilation of the students was moving. They had resurrected this truck together, bonded as a cohort, and learned much in the process.

And if your GED scores are excellent that can also help employers overcome the stigma of not completing High School. An NCES study showed an increase greater than $6,800 in annual income between those with a GED or diploma verse those who didn't. The Truth About Diesel Technicians

Many people think that a diesel tech job is going have you coming home in your grime covered overalls, layered in grease. This is just not an accurate portrayal of a modern high tech diesel mechanic. This stereotype is part of what has led to this shortage of qualified technicians.

Modern large machinery and trucks have greatly advanced in the past decades and utilize seven control modules that are powered and monitored by seven built in computers. Sensors are tracking and sending diagnostic data about the machine’s performance and needs for maintenance. In other words, the TECH in diesel technician is a big part of the equation.

So it’s laptop and diagnostic tools over dirty hands and rags. That is not to say that you never get to take things apart, but most often by that time you already know what you are going to do and have the parts in hand.
